呵呵，儿子的私校申请结果要等到月底。有没有选择还不知道呢。我的任务就是钱到位
。所以，还得再工作上加点紧，让老板再搞一个grant,我就不用去walmart打工给他挣
学费了。昨天翻除十年钱些得旧文，陪女儿走过大学申请。。。
日子过得真快
昨天接到女儿的伊妹儿，通知我四月份回来参加高中毕业十年的同学聚会。。。十年啊
，我中间失业一次，头发白了不少，儿子也到了上大学的时候，上个月我也终于达到了
政府规定的早退休的最起码的要求。。。
昨天终于把折腾了六个月的一个难题解决了。数据交给老板: 经费申请就看你的了。我
的bench work--development完成了。。。再拿一个grant,我就不用去Walmart给儿子挣
学费了。美好的一天，吃完中饭可以去校园里散步一小时。。。

cell lines取代primary cells做in vitro model－－既不用直接在动物身上做实验，
也不用一次又一次地从动物身上取细胞－－现在想想，虽然实验结果不是perfect，好
歹心里比较舒服。。今天在dissertation的dedication上加了一句"dedicate to all
the animals that have to be sacrificed in experiments"。。。
人类科学包括医学的进步是ultimate goal，是对这个世界进一步的了解。而人类为文
明的进步要付出很多代价。我自己对此有比较pessimistic的想法，所以不多说了。希
望能有alternative way吧。 |

第二回倒是准了，披荆斩棘之后，眼看一条小径通往隐隐传来喧嚣之声的灵隐，正喜逃
票成功，不料峰回路转，前方拐弯处忽现一岗亭，一男人讥讽地看看我爬山挂破的衬衫
裤子，朝我伸手要门票钱！

除非你是蹭学校的带宽，否则一般ISP，比如说ADSL吧，1M的速度已经够块了。但是1M
只是速位，真正的速度是1M/8，也就是128KB。
而且要注意ISP给的速度是上行、下行各自多少。因为对你的访问者而言，他们面对的是
你的上行速度。你下行再块对他们没意义。上面说的1M就是下行速度。
因此说，租虚拟主机吧。有钱就弄个dedicated server。dedicated server一个月也
几十dollars。

至于website和server的配置，在自己机器上面练习练习就可以了。压根就不要联网或者
局域网练习就可以了。我apache tomcat等sever都是在本机练习配置的，不需要
internet根本。其实说实话，练习的再好也白搭。因为网站server配置的水平高低就是
看在大量访问来的时候网站能否撑的来，速度怎么样。而这些都是需要专门的工具以

But for security and confidentiality, you may find a dedicated server or VPS.
Support and network stability is probably more important. Find a host with
long term good reputation in support.
For dedicated server, I would go to place like dedicatednow.com or
liquidweb.com
For VPS, I will recommend servint.com. I'm with them.

2. if no dedicated IP address offered, then you might need to transfer DNS

VPS和dedicated server主要取决于自己的管理。
当然VPS还依赖于宿主服务器的稳定性。
象shared hosting, VPS，相对来说价格便宜的，同一服务器上的用户肯定就
多。对dedicated server来说，价格便宜的话，就有可能是老机器。
所以要看自己的预算来决定自己的选择，没有一家公司能获得100%的满意的。
看评论的时候要看具体原因，看到差评未必是服务商的错，也有可能是用户
太刁。
在你提到的3家用，可能hostgator相对要好些，GoDaddy主要是域名，空间有
一个好处就是windows和linux都有，而且可以相互转换，转换一次IP就可能
更换一个。1and1，只用过他们的域名，没有用过空间。
另外你可以考虑一下VPS。不过如果对管理不熟的话，还是先选shared空间，
有时间了自己安装一个虚拟机练习一下系统管理。如果能找到人帮忙就

发帖数: 239 | 48 之前在Godaddy 搞了一个share hosting，域名和空间都是在Godaddy弄的。后来感觉
Godaddy的 windows hosting 一般般。因为要升级，所以干脆跑去1and1弄了一个新的
dedicate windows server。现在1and1这个有给定一个dedicate IP。
我想把godaddy下面的2-3个二级域名的东西放进1and1的服务器，然后把域名指向过去
，这个要怎么弄？
比如我的一个二级域名 pa.papapa.com，在godaddy那边。我现在在1and1这边重新建个
vhost，把文件都转过来。1and1的vhost 可以设置端口，比如8081。（默认的80是其他
在用）。那godaddy那边的DNS设置这个pa.papapa.com的域名转向怎么弄？好像不能ip
（1and1):8081。

如果不采用Dedicate server mode, 应该是什么？有什么优势？如果不改server mode,
应该怎么tuning呢？是不是要吧pga history和v$session history给拉出来看？
是不是提高Aggregated PGA就可以增加concurrent session 的数目呢？ |
