r******h 发帖数: 809 | 4 We checked the sunset time of Mazama town (6:30pm) and we still had daylight
until 7pm on previous day when we were driving on HWY 20. BUT, on the climb
day, the cloud came out soon, and high mountains there simply block the sun
when it is sitll pretty high. So we got more than 1 hour shorter daylight
than we expected...
One lesson: Bring a headlamp with SUPER wide range and SUPER bright.
Rappelling in complete dark is, err, not very pleasant... |

There’s nothing better than going on a climbing trip. The opportunity to
travel is the greatest perk in any climber’s life. There is climbing in
every country on earth … just point to some place on the globe, and if you
’re a climber you automatically have a reason to go there. Think about it.
It’s pretty cool. (No, seriously, think about it. See? Pretty cool.)
I’d say 10 days is the minimum amount of time for a climbing trip to be “
worth it,” though I’v...

from Official Google Blog by Karen
When I woke up at 4:00 AM in a dark field, after just a half hour of sleep,
I
wondered if I was crazy. When I put on my headlamp and running shoes for a

was
happy about it because I knew that my teammates were just as crazy.
I was running Hood to Coast with the Google relay team. That's a 197-mile

4931 | 20 Saturday night. My daughter went to sleep, and it's time for running again.
I put on my headlamp and headed to the woods. There was a little bit of
drizzle. The trail looked different at night. No bugs, no animals, no sounds
, only me and my headlight. The lap was about 2.2 miles. On the third lap,
my mind wandered and I lost my footing and fell on the rocky trail. I landed
on my right elbow and hip. There was a bit blood and bruise. It woke me up.
For one second, I felt the pain and it was more |
