看大家争来争去， 说到了俺以前的本行，感觉做我这行的不多， 有些东西值得分享，
一直没有好好写出来，现在我也来说两句吧。我的point是， 老了一定要回国， 而且
能早回就早回。
我以前是在一个州政府里面专门管medicare和medicaid的部门工作的， 俺的任务就是
每天出去检查州里面的各个nursing home， 老人公寓， 还有各种名目的私立的公立的
来照顾别人的， 有人长期居住在里面的那些机构。 检查的越多， 其实越是坚定了我
要回国的信心。
不管是luxury的nursing home， 还是穷人住的政府付钱的nursing home， 我都检查了
很多， 其实两者都是一样的miserable， 唯一的能让这些老人们的生活有些不同的就
是家人的陪伴。 有些家里会每天都轮流派子女去陪老人， 很多年如此， 这样的老人
， 过得很开心， 但是想起来， 不也和咱们国内的那些老人和孩子住在一起的情况相
似吗？

孩子被带走3个多月，从冬天到夏天。。。他们都是无辜的天真活波可爱的孩子。没用
的妈妈不是那种只生不养，no responsibility 的妈妈，而是双方家人没有人能帮忙，
自己又太爱孩子，总想让这些孩子有个体面的生活，自己天资不足，又不能同时handle
很多事，压力太大，一时判断失误，做了件现在想来是件stupid的事情，(其实孩子进
家里，妈妈粗心，心急立马去学校找，5 minutes回家发现孩子,在警察到学校之前, 警
察作了记录这事结束了)2小时后DCF带走了所有的孩子（第二次）。

发帖数: 32 | 40 我之前在nursing home上班，现在找到一个医院的工作，说真的，我觉得我想辞职了
。我之前觉得医院肯定比在nursing home好，但是我现在犹豫了。
医院的优点，肯定是学的东西多，见的病多，工资比nursing home高。（但是我真的不
是很care工资的高低，大概就是比我在nursing home高10%吧，而且工资真的不是我考
虑工作的重要因素）
医院的缺点：
1。累，我以前总听人说当护士累，我在nursing home工作，觉得还好，杂事挺多的，
但也不至于很累。在医院，好多体力活要做。护工忙不过来，护士自己上，我在
nursing home基本上就没做过重活，因为CNA人数很全，重活全包了。
2。忙，医院真的好忙，有的时候我的lunch break只吃15分钟 ，就跑出去了，随时都
在discharge，随时都在admit。在nursing home 我可以保证有安安静静的半个小时的
lunch break,还可以有额外的15分钟break。
3。脏。还是一个理，医院的护工人数不够，换brief ，给病人洗澡，护工人不够的时
候，护士自己做，当然，护工经常人不够。。... 阅读全帖 |

发帖数: 4402 | 46 我发现不少朋友对于运费的理解还是很糊涂。而且fedex(USP,USPS)运费年年涨。本着省钱就是赚钱的精神，我特意整理一下。
1。重量。-实际重量和体积重量
FedEx, UPS都是按照rated weight进行运费计算。rated weight=max(actual weight, dimensional weight). dimensional weight=W*H*L/166* Express or Ground if(W*H*L>5184).打个比方：你如果寄1lbs重的巨大空箱子，运输公司不可能只按照1lbs来收费，因为你这个还占了很大的运输空间。
*注：international express=W*H*L/139
要点:尽量用合适的箱子寄货,实际重量 <>计算费用的重量！！！
2。Commercial/Residential address <=> ground/home delivery
ground寄commercial address没有多少surcharge.

版上考了古，没有看到结论。我现在的AUTO是GEICO的，全保一年480块 （很老的车）
。但是LOAN OFFICER说GEICO的HOME INSURANCE不好，现在管贷款的公司给我QUOTE了一
个叫SAFECO的公司，是LIBERTY MUTUAL旗下的一家公司。HOME 要一年774块，如果连
AUTO一起，HOME会降100块，但是AUTO要616块一年。还没QUOTE GEICO的HOME.

80%的美国老人希望临终的时候是在家里与亲人告别，可是事实往往不是如此，只有20%
的人做到了，其他80%的人都死在医院和Nursing home里。
最近因为一些原因，我有机会去过几家养老院, 现在谈谈我的感受。
Nursing home：
美国的Nursing home分为三种：Intermediate care facility (ICF)，Assisted
living facility (ALF)，Skilled nursing facility (SNF)。我想我三个都去过，前
两者是自己付费，最后一个是Medicare, Medicaid付大头。Nursing home，价格从3千
到6千美元每月不等（当然还有更高的），月费年年涨，据说进去的时候还要缴纳一笔
不菲的押金。
