我记得上神经语言学的时候，老师说小孩在两岁前接触到某个语言，就算之后完全不说
，等长大了也会很容易学会，因为已经imprint在神经发育里了。
如果打算让小孩学多门外语，可以让他在很小的时候听那些语言，以后长大了再学。 |

于是开始跟他讲中文。看见个卡车，他说truck,我说卡车。结果小同学一听就急了，纠
正我 truck.我继续卡车，他就急哭了，truck truck。然后我继续讲中文，小同学哭着
说 off.我问 what off。小同学说mama off....我晕了。
一会小娃放了个屁，捂着鼻子说 oh fart。 我说 放屁。娃又急了 farted farted.

我们家弟弟上幼儿园时，有次在家长会和他的老师有过相关的对话。我的关心话题是，
如何不宠溺孩子？老师给我讲了下面一个故事：
她是一个单亲妈妈，一手拉扯大两个孩子。她儿子19岁那年，自己买了辆车。首付是用
自己打工赚来的，贷款需要妈妈共贷。办好手续，母子俩走出贷款办公室时，儿子对她
讲了一句话，我听了顿时眼眶发热：
妈妈，感谢你，感谢我们有贫穷的生活。
因为是单亲，家庭条件不好，妈妈一直努力工作（她真的是一位非常敬业非常好的老师

其他的都是表象。人家搞的就是“Merit Based”。只不过人家的merit不仅仅是当前的
，还要考虑到将来这个人“成功”的几率有多大，这个人的“成功”给母校带来好处几
率有多大，带来好处有多少，等等。换句话说，人家关注某个孩子现在成绩有多好，有
多么“成功”，人家录取的标准是将来这个人有多大几率能成功，学校能从这个人的成
功中获益多少。
比如据说小布什成绩非常差，但是yale要录取他，为什么？人家出身好，人家能成功的
几率比一个sat满分的普通家庭出身的孩子不知道高多少。
人家为什么要多招非裔，因为在现在的政治气候下，一个智力普通，情商正常的非裔将
来成功的几率比分数高几百分的亚裔高多了。本科生的情况不了解，但是如果非裔拿到
博士的话，只要有几篇正常的文章去做faculty简直探探囊取物，华裔呢，就算有CNS一
样很难。

不一定有 choice 去改变之。
或者进一步说，这是种群为了应付大自然的 unpredictables，而 imprint
在不同个体里的 diversity。
就像人类当初走出非洲，种群里的不同个体，得有（1）二愣子型，
（2）不挪窝型，（3）下山摘桃子型，三种。试想一下：
a）如果全是 “二愣子型”，第一批闯关未成，人类就已经蟑螂死光光了。
b）如果全是 “不挪窝型”，那到现在人类都还是猴子。
c）如果全是 “下山摘桃子型”，那“山”何从来，“桃子”又何从有？
从这个角度看，我现在开始理解虎妈，以及 acknowledge 虎妈的理念了。
当然，这不等于我就会按虎妈的理念干活。我仍旧是 can't handle unpredictables
的我，因为种群的 diversity。这也是 the meaning of life 的一部分。 |
