华尔街日报社评指出，美国奥巴马政府应明确表示钓鱼岛属於日本，态度愈明确，中国
放弃的可能就愈高。
这篇10月31日的社评以「日本需要美国支持抗衡中国欺凌」为题，通篇采用美国和日本
一贯使用的尖阁诸岛来称呼钓鱼岛。评论开篇即指出，中国领导人以为经常派遣船舰和
飞机进入钓鱼岛的日本领土，就会令到日本屈服於中国的主张，但中国这种骚扰和恫吓
策略只是适得其反。
评论认为，在第二次世界大战後，美国从日本手中取过钓鱼岛管理权，然後在1970年代
末期归还给日本，当时就已有效地解决了钓鱼岛的归属权问题。奥巴马政府愈明确表示
钓鱼岛是属於日本的，北京也就愈可能退下去。
华尔街日报这篇社评被认为是自2012年9月日本政府宣布钓鱼岛「国有化」以来，美国
主流传媒首次通过社论明确提出钓鱼岛主权属於日本，并要求美国政府公开承认。

From my understanding, you are not aiming for a faculty position down the
road, which, IMHO, is a more realistic goal than otherwise, given what you
have achieved so far. Unless you have dumb luck later to get a CNS paper or
two out, chances are good that you will find yourself struggling with
working as a postdoc a few years from now. Doing a postdoc in industry might
give you
more hope for a real job than in academia.
