brain can't see beyond the wait time of EB2 and keep on dreaming about
whatever "merit" system designed by people whose value system you clearly
have no idea of and don't agree on.
Indians played the existing system, just like Asian American in general
played the exam system to achieve higher college admission rate. Even if

academic performance, 只有<1%的高中生能入选。从Illinois 2011年得奖名单看，只
有北郊的new trier，stevenson，西郊的hinsdale和 naperville的三个高中还成。
chicago要考试才能上的什么northside, payton明显不灵，比同样要考试的Illinois
Math and Science academy差远了。

SEMI的名单。我不知道她最后有没有获奖。
但是我知道她拿到了UC的奖学金，当然比没拿到奖学金的难进了。
这已经是邻居里我知道第二个拿奖进UC的。她是在CENTRAL，另一个是前年从IMSA毕业
的。
我们这一片中国人比较多，每年都有几个孩子去IMSA的。 |

数。初略数了一下，水牛村还是最牛啊。老中要多多向winnetka，glencoe等地区挺进
，这么好的区明显代表数量不足。还有老中确实舍得花钱去私立的少。uc lab那几个八
成也是芝大子弟，学费便宜，将来上任何大学芝大还给负80%学费。 |

hinsdale central 2015也有23个semifinalists。对于illinois学校来说，这个merit
semifinalist和上外州top school比较正相关。203 naperville North 去年college
placement比hinsdale central好也是因为这个。今年stevenson high肯定不错。

还真让他等到私立大学的录取了--Grinnell College，外加两万块的奖学金，算学校第
二高的merit-based的奖学金。小人家还妄想着别的offer，但明确说了没有别的offer
的话，在州立和Grinnell之间，他倾向选择Grinnell。
我说我还要等financial aid（FA)的package后才决定。不过，以Grinnell的财力，应
该不是问题。我自己的估计应该还有15-20k的FA。上Grinnell我自己付的，和儿子上州
立因我是职工有50%学费减免后的费用相当。所以，他喜欢就让他去吧。
对我和太太来讲，这也算一种解脱。博士后收入低，总是担心亏待了孩子，让他们输在
起跑线上。小学到高中我们没钱让他们上私立，挣扎过。好在姐弟两运气不错，考上不
比州内任何私立中学差的大学附中。两个孩子都在那里度过了高中五年（包括一年初中

但他认定学校公司招diversity一定不是merit based. 如果一个人
能说他们学校公司招diversity就不是merit based， 别人当然也
可以肯定他被招不是merit based。既然不是based on merit,
那完全有nepotism的可能. 反正都不需要证据和数据，空口白牙谁不会呀。
“我懒得去想aa和diversity的区别,你说支持diversity,aa对于我来说只是推行
diversity的动词而已. (知道你说过又想要diversity又想要merit based,

你懒是你的选择。不等于aa和diversity就没有区别了。而且再我

补充一下背景：
美国phD，毕业后在美国top牛小薄厚，已经两年了。递EB1a的时候是薄厚一年半的事。
那时候文章7，第一作者的只有2，没有CNS文章，citation是逐年增加的（当时是80多吧）
claim publication, contribution, media都承认了
review没有claim，因为当时只有10左右吧，结果也承认了。
推荐信6封。
总的来说我毕业时间不长，文章数目有限，case算弱的。所以totality上不知道具体该怎么加强。现在citation和review
的数目都有增加，还有一片挂名的CNS文章投了很可能会发（当然无法在30天内发出来）。但既然claim的都已经承
认，我是不是就不该再纠缠这些了？记得以前看人说凡认可的表示感谢就好了，多说还多错。

下面是一封申请EB2 NIW I-140的petition letter的范例。这是多年前公开发表在
MITBBS“落地生根”版上的一个帖子。现在重贴于此，供大家参考。
个人点评：EB2 NIW的申请是技术活，满足NIW的三个方面都必须论证到位，否则就通过
不了；而且论证过程中，有些关键词必须出现在移民官的视野里。这封petition
letter基本上达到了这几方面的要求。更难能可贵的是，这封petition letter的后面
