2个月前发现qualcomm的增强现实研发职位（在UK剑桥）
这是个结合了图形，视觉和移动平台开发的工作，感觉很有前景，也和我背景吻合
再说uk 不比美国，像样的cs工作实在很少，qualcomm算是工资不错的，这真是个绝好
机会
于是拖了很久才申请，怕太快了，没准备好
拖到不能再拖了就投了，第三天就来约电面，onsite面，运气都还不错，一切都很顺利
过了三天HR来电要了references 说负责招聘的很满意，现在
就只等美国圣地亚哥总部批准，要等1.5周多，
又带来个坏消息，因为是中国人进qualcomm，要办export licence。她当时说大概1个
月办好。
第二天，美国这边办 licence的开始跟我联系，并说这个一般要45-60天，开始填一堆
表格
我上mitbbs 一看，晕，licence也许要办很久 ，拖半年的都有！！！
前几天一直被这个东西烦恼。
犹豫到底要失业着等这个没法估计时间的东西，还是先把别的工作接受下来做起来！
没想到又过了一周，也就是今天，HR带来真正糟糕的打击
说美国没有批给这个职位budget 。。。。

而且140批了，但是485 priority date 还遥遥无期，不知道如果在Qualcomm开始申请

家探亲差旅费。看那种Contractor了。如果直接受雇于Qualcomm的工资挺高。如果是通
过二道贩子转卖到Qualcomm的要受双重剥削。Qualcomm压他们的工资压的挺低的。但是
他们也没办法。你不干有的人排队等着干。 |

10月中下旬刚刚拿到一个Qualcomm 的offer, 看来看去怎么跟版上报的有较大出入,请
知道内情的帮忙解释一下.
Fresh phd, title is Senior, SD site.
工资100k, RSU30K$,relocation fee 5k.
But the offer letter does not mention any signon bunus, and states "manager
and starting date to be determined".
本来是个挺高兴的事情,结果拿到offer细节以后,与版上的标准配置一比,顿时感到如鲠
在喉.
版上其他人都有15K signon bonus, phd起薪也是105K, RSU也比别人少.

It usually is fairly technical (if not very technical) for an engineering
position.
As for qualcomm groups in particular, they normally tend to bring quite
some candidates to onsite interviews (qualcomm is rich). So to get an
offer,one has to be both technically strong and easy to work with. |

发帖数: 486 | 32 经济危机之后，硅工和码工的差距已经拉大了，跟码工和矿工的差别差不多了，能分到
的公司的利润根本不能比(股票,bonus什么的)。上面那个排名只是一方面而已。
Qualcomm员工普遍满意度较高部分是因为在San Diego, 这样的大公司不多，相对硅谷
的公司满意度高容易得多。排在前面的SAS什么的实际上待遇都不是很好，但是稳定，
清闲，在所在地相对收入较高，福利比较好，员工就会比较满意。单纯论员工待遇，
qualcomm和google应该不只是第4和第9的差距。
话说回来，Qualcomm在EE里面已经算是很不错的的了，可以说是最好的之一。但
是semi行业的跟码工比，现在已经完全不在一个档次上了。软件行业负担比较轻，
基本没怎么受经济危机影响。相对来说，整个芯片产业链受经济危机的的打击都很大，
而且outsource也比软件严重的多。
另外这里所说的码工只限于普通软件开发的码工, 老百姓能用的，用途没多少技术含量的，
用户群越多越好，最好还要能有广告收入。为某个产业写代码的要用到那个行业的
专业知识的都不行，比如EDA, SAS, Mathworks, AutoCAD等，这些基本上 |

financially, I guess you have a good chance to catch up with inflation in
the future, compared with a financially so so company. But I don't know whether your other company is doing well.

发帖数: 204 | 36 话说Qualcomm最近真是招人很厉害，小弟也找工作有段时间了，终于拿到了个大公司
onsite。
闲话少说，职位的名字是：Power Systems - Verification/Integration Engineer (
all levels)
通过phone interview的面试官（staff engineer，也就是未来的上司）的问题和跟他
聊天，了解到，实际上他是需要一名能和他做一样工作的人，也就是用verilog做FPGA
和micro controller 的design。问的我一些digital circuit和编程的相关很多问题，
基本问题不大，interviewer也比较满意。
但是onsite会有5-7个小时，也被告知会被问到很多方面的基础知识，比如anaglog, RF
等等。我也曾有同学跟我说 Qualcomm onsite 被问到傅立叶变换等等，这要问我就真
晕了，本科一直没好好学，来这边也一直主攻digital logic circuit。不过为了准备
面试也得硬着头皮上啊

我只知道5G通信基站、核心路由方面现在比较强的公司是爱立信、诺基亚、华为，
CISCO也是核心路由设备的重要厂商。
3G, 4G时，我们差距很大。只在后面捞了点汤喝。5G现在刚开始，我们勉强算和西方站
在了同一条起跑线上。但如果老美禁运QualComm芯片，分分钟掐死华为。任正非很清楚
这一点。所以才在内部严禁义和团。 |
