我在现在住的off-campus公寓里住了一年多了（从2009年3月到现在），现在的
roommate是今年1月份搬进来的。我们和公寓的lease 是month by month的，如果2个人
同时要
搬走，那么要提前一个月告诉公寓管理员。
他搬进来的时候，我和他说好，如果两个人其中有一个人要搬走，那么或者找一个人来接
lease,或者提前一个月通知对方。但是这个是口头协议，没有写下来。
现在我因为客观原因(找到工作），要搬走，3月底和我roommate说我4月底搬走，同时
我在网上找人，尽量在我走之前找一个人接替我的lease, 他答应了(again，口头协议
）。但
是前两天(4月7号)，我又说起这个事情，他又表示，我必须在走之前，找到人接替
lease。
我有点不爽，但是心想我当时没有把那个口头协议写下来，是我不对。于是我建议我多
付一个月房租，把我5月份房租也付了。我roommate 依然不答应，因为他暑假（5月中)
要回国
。他说我如果要走，应该把暑假四个月房租给付了，就是一千多块钱。因为他暑假不在
这里。

原本只想发在MITBBS的，可是他们的SERVER又出问题了，所以就只能发这里了。从早上到

太大汉，报头痛哭的样子，感受到的是生命不能承受之重，因为他的前女友昨晚自杀了。

many assumptions...
If the roommate could go to bf's place, why couldn't LZ go to the study buddy's place? How come the roommate is the one who has to yield, not LZ?
And, yes, respect is mutual, so LZ should ask nicely. In this particular
situation, the roommate doesn't owe LZ anything, it is LZ who has a favor to ask. I believe if LZ asks nicely, most reasonable people will be considerate and grand this favor.

三室一厅。这是一个Townhouse的第三层。第一层是门面房，第二层房东住，第三层我
租了下来。我正在给妻子办绿卡，这个过程要持续5-12个月。前一段换了工作，所以才
不得不换房子。租房的时候我特意跟房东说了，我的妻子和孩子要到半年以后才能过来
，我在这之前要找人share the cost. 房东可能以为我要找朋友合住，他也没说什么。
但我入住后，要找roommate,房东却极力反对，不让我找外国人，只让我找朋友或中国
人。可能房东以前和外国人有过不愉快的经历，听说是闹到了法庭才赶走了房客。但在
这里中国人很稀少，哪能找到中国人？我找外国人可能一住几个月或半年，但中国人可
