共和党是相对保守，极右的共和党的确是准种族主义了，但共和党的主流不是，bush总
统8年，移民照样好好的，哪里有不同了？
其实民主共和两党的理念不同，什么gay/gun control这些对于咱们来说都是细枝末节
，主要就是移民和财政两点。国会在移民问题上完全stuck,如果只是合法移民问题，两
党虽然有分歧，但比较容易达成协议。但民主党为了西班牙裔的选票，坚持要求大赦非
法移民作为条件。共和党不同意，基本无法进行。illegal is illegal,怎么现在堂而
皇之的出来讨价还价了。。。一切都是因为选票，民主党要拉住自己的选票。
财政，共和党或者茶党的理念是fiscal balance, small government,财政平衡和“小
政府”，即保持政府的精简，减少开支，不要干预经济活动。当然bush总统时候在
fiscal balance也做的很不好，但现在o8搞的这套更是超负荷变本加厉，全民健保刚出
来已经就穷途末路了，看看现在这次选举，有哪个民主党候选人用健保给自己宣传的？
民主党自己都不敢提了。搞了全民健保，国家负担更重，老百姓的保费也没有降低，反

来美国二十几年了，年年过感恩节都吃火鸡。
起初是去美国朋友家吃，那火鸡做的实在太那个，连我这经历过文革期间吃不上肉的
馋虫也难以下咽，但还是很感谢朋友诚恳的热心。就这样，年复一年地感谢着别人热心
地给我一盘接一盘吃起来象锯末味儿的火鸡肉，还跟国内的父母亲戚炫耀，谁让老头儿
老太太没吃过美国火鸡呢。其实这也是来美国的很多留学生的生活缩影：对美国给予的
一切只有无条件地接受，因为别人允许你在他们的国家生活已经是慷慨了，就别挑三拣
四的了。这是被动无奈融入式的西化，立刻无条件地全面服从西方社会的规矩，以求大
致上享受到与西方社会中他人同等的待遇。
成家立业后，老婆试着按自己的想法做火鸡，愣是把锯末肉做成了美味。其中酱油，料

本身是个主观的东西。很多人喜欢美其名曰，说某个问题重要主要是因为发展出一个体
系，发展出很多方法之类的，其实是把因果关系颠倒了。说白了，就是一旦某几个牛人
想出了一些重要的突破性的idea，于是大家伙就有饭吃了而已。
因为牛人发现了突破口，很多就感觉有方向了，自我掂量一下，觉得即使解决不了
大问题，起码可以做一些incremental的贡献，写两篇份量还可以的paper是可能的，
做的人自然就多了，做的人一多就变成一个体系了。而有些问题，某两个idea被用尽
了之后大家都stuck了，多数人自认为不是欧拉，也就不会去碰。但你永远不会知道哪
一天忽然某个巨牛把哥德巴赫猜和其他某个问题联系起来了，到那时候还不是会有无数
人一拥而上跟风做哥德巴赫猜？所以现在做的人多人少跟这个问题的重要性一点关系都
没有。陈景润当年用筛法虽然古老了些，但在他那个时代并没有完全过时。现在不鼓励
年轻人去做，因为没有idea，也算是比较负责的说法。但没有必要厚此薄彼，把哥德巴
赫猜说成没有价值。
