C上周director电面后，很快发了on campus visit request，给了5个时间选 （9月-11
月）。我目前在等B校potential offer，大概八月有结果。A 校potential onsite在C
校两小时地方，大概八月中有消息。
请教大家，我如何回复这个request email?
1. 告知我在等potential offer,如果没有，就去on campus visit，还有另一个onsite
visit 在附近，让对方把时间安排在一起。
2. 直接withdraw application。感觉在offers里面选，拒绝谁都不好。
3. 一直拖到下月，再告知on site 时间。

觉得我今年应该去找个牛校的postdoc，然后等她找到后，我明年再继续找faculty（希
望后年就可以在一起了）。但是postdoc也找的很不顺，几乎所有好点的学校都没有任
何消息，最近只好找industry的工作。
现在就比较纠结了，接受这个visiting的offer吧，如果明年没有拿到那个tenure的
offer，那我就会有身份问题，还得继续找其他学校或者ind |

偶第一次visit是在6周加2天的时候，当时也没人跟偶说太早约，就跟医生前台约了，
到那后，医生做
B超确认怀孕和排除了宫外孕。
然后说第二次Visit（4周后）接着B超，看到时候能否看到胎心。
偶的问题是：每次都要用B超检查吗？后来听一些朋友说做太频繁B超不好！偶这么早做
会不会有影响
呢？还有好奇以后每月visit都用什么查？
也总听朋友说大B超！一共几次大B超，确定什么？那还有小B超？ |

打电话给保险公司file claim 了，保险公司打电话问为什么八周的第三次visit没算成
prenatal。保险克服告诉我他们得到的回复还是12周前可能流产，需要通过八周这次超
声来确定怀孕，四周的试纸不算。 所以八周那次算普通specialist visit （35 copay
）. 下次12周的visit才算prenatal。他们office 都是这么算的。这算坑人吗？ |

在等485，结果今天被USCIS 一个officer site visit，说了半天以为是说485的事，结
果说是H1b的。问了一堆问题，主要是干什么，学位是啥，工资到底多少，然后拍了张
办公室照片。让我回头发W2，ID，学位，paystub还有一个brief introduction of job
duty 给他们。
公立大学教职，没想到还会被USCIS visit。带她过来的校警给系里面秘书说是FBI的人
，搞得系里面以为我犯啥事了 |

我现在是J-1 visiting scholar,来美交流的国内生物PhD。学校药学院有一个
Regulatory Affaris 的master program，且是only part-time and web-based，不会
提供任何签证和奖学金。觉得应该可以在业余念一个master。遂询问了学校OIE，结果
OIE的负责人回复说："This is prohibited while you are in the U.S. as a
research scholar. The Department of State sees this as a change in your
primary objective for which you came to the U.S. as a research scholar."
我看到有前辈说博士后期间可以念master.为什么这个visiting scholar身份part-time
拿学位也是被禁止的？这个跟签证没有关系的啊，也不会影响日常的visiting的工作。

有过几个onsite面试，但是因为表现不够好与机会失之交臂。最近试着申请工业界的工
作，拿了一个小公司的offer。同时一个小学校也说愿意给我一年的Visiting
professor的offer。
底应该去哪里。如果去工业界，放弃学术界觉得挺可惜，毕竟学术界是自己的理想，而
且今年已经很接近，我的方向opening也比较多。如果选择去Visiting professor，只
是一个临时职位，但是觉得对找学校的工作可能更有帮助。你们的意见是我选择哪个？ |

发帖数: 13752 | 48 其实事情不是这样的。visiting position的人转正也很不容易，一般比外来的人要难
上几倍。我在的系里一直有好几个visiting position，这些年来一个转正的都没有。
要和外面来的那么多candidate去比呢。

当时我也是拿到口头offer之后就被邀请去第二次visit,
然后就告诉我大概的工资和大概的启动资金，然后我回去之后有一个月左右的时间
来讨价还价。
在你第二次visit 的时候，我想应该是主要是你在听他们的要求（多少年之内
要拿外部资金，要教多少课，等等），而不是你在提要求。而且应该是你尽量的
调查系里都有什么仪器，什么是你可以用的，有什么可能是你要重新买的。
然后你后面提启动资金的时候就有依据了

-tenure job,但可不可以把visiting这个词去掉？对方说，job announcement里这么写
的，所以不能变。真是鸡肋呀。又找到别的工作，可能就从了这个先了，然后骑驴找马
