Everybody tells me VT's power can be ranked in Top 3 in the States. I should
be responsible for my friend and thus I check with their webpages.
In terms of power engineering, they have
Virgilio Centeno ( Assist. Prof.), Jaime De La Ree (Assoc. Prof.), Yilu Liu
(Prof.), Lamine Mili(Prof., IEEE Senior member) and Kwa-Sur Tam (Assoc. Prof.)

POWER STSTEMS:VT在POWER
STSTEMS的名声主要是一个早就退休(已故?)的老教授和PHADKE打出来的,NAE院士你也有档
次的,PHADKE属于那种厉害的角.现任系主任THORPE是几年前从CORNELL挖来的POWER
STSTEMS领域的NAE院士.现在的教授中RAHMAN和YILU LIU也是IEEE FELLOW.
POWER ELECTRONICS:FRED LEE就不用说了,ALEX
HUANG也是可角,发明进03(?04)的一百大,可是刚被NC
STATE挖走.最近退休的CHAN也是FELLOW,还有个FELLOW忘了是谁.
从规模和质量上,POWER ELEC TOP3应该查不多,除了WISCONSIN和A&M.
POWER SYSTEMS就难说了,前十总是有的吧,反正现在搞POWER SYSTEMS的也没几个了.
影响力是个很卫微妙的长期的东西,有时一两个PROFESSOR就可以撑起一片天地.此外,老牌

I just checked with WISCONSIN and TAMU's EE depts. Their power groups seem to
be better than VT's. If they represent the highest qualities of power elec in
U.S. (as you told), then I think it is reasonble to rank VT as a top 3 one.

不过VT的电力系统说起来也厉害的,有10个FACULTY,2个NAE,4个IEEE FELLOW,但就是没啥
钱. VT的电力电子,FRED LEE的学生都自称天下第一,保守的说前三,主要还不是因为钱多
加个大牛人.
另外,IEEE FELLOW确有贬值的趋势,看来咱们都努力努力机会也是不错的.

清晨四点出发，赶往240英里外的Vermont。四个半小时后，来到了美东最大滑雪场
Killington背后，著名的AT trail的停车场。又是四个小时，登上了Killington的主峰
。传说中这里有着360度的风景，然而此刻四周白茫茫一片，不小心我们爬高了。
如果同Adirondack和White Mountain相比，VT的秋色更有层次，这得益于她的树种和起

I just visited the website of the Association of Chinese Students and it is
suggested to use Roanoke Airport as the destination. I am not familiar with VT
and Virginia. So, do you have any other airport option , since Roanoke is not
near to Blacksburg. Now I am in Dallas, TX . I plan to go back to China this
July and I have two options now. Firstly, buy a round trip ticket between
Dallas,TX and a Chinese city. Second, one trip back to China and then one trip
to VT directly from China. |

1. 历史数据对于预测未来有一定的参考价值，尤其是某一队在某项统计上高度一致，
就更值得考虑；
2. 若一支队伍在本赛季中曾惨败，无论何时何地以及对手如何强大，均应对该队在弱
队身上取得的胜利持谨慎的态度与审慎的乐观，无论这样的胜利有多少。
3. 摆老资格和口出恶言很可能伤害本队胜利的机会，并且以大喜大悲的方式出现。这
条听起来有点迷信，但宁可信其有，不可信其无。
下面简要回答HokieMan同志对我的批判。
关于历史数据的参考价值与本赛季成绩的重要性事实已经回答了，我就不再多说。关于
每周排名的相对变化，我可以举出很多例子证明VT输41分后只掉9名不合理，最明显的
是Michigan，你认为Stanford比App. State更好吗？为什么Michigan直接掉出前25名？
