got it wrong.
For whatever reason, you made the same overbid as Michael Moss and bid to 6N
with the following. The only difference, however, is that he made it almost
like double dummy.
North
S Q8
H 84
D J9763
C AKQ9
South
S AT742
H AKQT9
D A
C 82
West led the H3. You play low, and East played the J. Now you are 1 hurdle
over, what next? | c****u 发帖数: 3277 | 2 The natural play is S to SQ, if SK on side, S3-3, you are home.
if SK on side, S 4-2, but 4 spades and 4 clubs are in the same hand,
you have a squeeze.
if SK off side, you may hook ST and expect for S3-3 or 4-2 and blacksuits
squeeze.
If you want to play some weird double guard squeeze, I think it's
still possible,
but I don't think the chance is better than the line above.
got it wrong.

if sp breaks, his line may fail in a stupid way.
I did think about this way, but it wasn't attractive to me.

| y****e 发帖数: 71 | 8 Agree, it is only good when you watch all hands. Percentage play should not
be like that. If you tuff 2nd diamond, and east dropped King, and you think
he either has no diamond anymore or KQx, then you can use that play after
carefully monitoring diamond discard. Otherwise, it is stupid.

| w****b 发帖数: 623 | 9 It's hard to make a ruff in NT contract...
The merit of his play is the layout is (about) the only layout that you can
legitimately make the contract with any lead. That is, if you can set up S,
then a D lead always beats it. So you have to assume that S is frozen or
someone who's having DKQ has SK as well.

Hehe, thought it is 6H contract. 6NT is a somewhat risky bidding, if not in
MP play I will not try that one.
Also, even for 6NT, you cannot assume opp always find the right lead, even for
expert, wrong lead towards a slam contract is very common. I still think you
either cheat (watch others cards), or you are crazy to pull a play like that,
especially finesse with club 9 when 10 and J outside.

| | | m*******g 发帖数: 3 | 11 I agree that this play was only lucky. Since there are only 10 tricks,
south needs to get one from spade first by leading low from his own hand,
and if it fails lead low from dummy. After either succeeds, double squeeze is
very likely. The chance to make 6N is close to 60% (maybe higher), I would
say.
Finesse JT has a chance slightly less than 25% (not exactly 25%). If you want
to become a good player, forget about this bad example by wimptb.

| c****u 发帖数: 3277 | 12 I found this hand at bbo's deal of the week.
The actual lead in the final of spingold was D, the declarer was Allan Graves,
now C hook is the only play.
This Mikchael Moss is Fred Gittlemen's father.

| w****b 发帖数: 623 | 13 Hmm I wrong sided the contract then, when I played the hand, as it would be
too hard to lead D from Kx but normal from Qxxxx.
Really? I don't know Michael Moss is Fred Gittlemen's father. Is he affiliated
with Brad Moss, Fred's regular partner? If so, they are all from the same
family? And what happened to their last name?
