s****u 发帖数: 205 | 1 Thinking about taking my wife and 3 kids (6, 4, and 1 yrs old) to Rocky
Mountain National Park. Are most of the roads inside the park dangerous i.e.
right next to the cliff? If we are to take the bus tour, does the bus stops
frequently (just in case the 1 year old doesn't like being in the bus...)?
And where do you suggest to stay in Estets Park? We want a clean and
comfortable place for 5 people.
And how about the neighboring towns i.e. Boulder and Denver. Are they worth
visiting? Where else close by do you suggest to visit?
Thanks ahead. |

roads along the cliff. Are most if not all of the roads that way in RMNP?
Thanks. |

Then you have five months to get braver and no longer scared.
Just kidding, all main roads in RMNP look safe enough, the trailridge road
is visible in google map's streetview, you can see for yourself:

b*****r 发帖数: 321 | 7 There is bus can take you to places like bear lake, etc but I don't think it
will take you to the top. And to really enjoy the park, you should go for
the old fall river road. just drive slow, it is not that bad.
if you like camping, there are good places in the park, but you need to make
reservation early. with 1-y old, it may be tough, but we took our 1-y old
camping three times last year.
and give kids plenty of water on your way up to the top. when we drove to Mt
. Evans last year, my 1-y old was fine, but my 4-y old had pretty bad high
altitude sickness:(
There is a YMCA facility just outside the park, we stayed there once and
enjoyed a lot. my son was 3 at the time and really liked the bunk bed and
mini-golf court there. and I remember there is free food too. |
s****u 发帖数: 205 | 8 Thanks so much. How about the neighboring towns? Which ones are worth
visiting? Does it make sense to spend a whole day in Boulder and another
whole day in Denver (since the airport is in Denver)? We enjoy beautiful
scenery. Thanks. |
b*****r 发帖数: 321 | 9 it really depends on what's your interests.
i like hiking, so if it was me, I will take morning hiking around Boulder, a
couple places close by are Chautauqua or Mt Sanitas. You will need carry
your 1-y old. then back to Boulder downtown for lunch and you can do window
shopping and watch some street performances on pearl street while your 1-y
old takes afternoon nap:)
you can pick which trail you like on protrails

don't know much about Denver. You can spent some time on Art Museum, kind
interesting building, but kids are probably too young to appreciate it. We
went to botanic garden a few times in the past years, a good place, but can
not compare to the one in CA in my opinion. |
