have told my program advisor before I transferred. They even told me that I
could have applied for leave of absence if I just want to leave for one or two
years. How nice!
But I didn't tell them until the last minute, I missed the chance, and brought
trouble to them too.
That says, if your boss is an American guy, he will understand and may help
you.
