worried she is not able to work if her OPT expires and her OPT extension is
still pending. I checked USCIS website. It says:
if their post-completion OPT expires while the 17-month extension
application is pending, students who timely filed their STEM extension
applications with USCIS will receive an extension of employment
authorization after their current employment authorization expires, but for

USCIS website says. Also, an email from your DSO to explain that is helpful.
