’s Lanzhou University headed by President Xu-Hong Zhou, visited National
Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, Dec. 27, to strengthen the
partnership between NCKU and Lanzhou University and to envision the prospect
of future collaborations.
“according to President Zhou, adding that Lanzhou U. is outstanding in the
basic theoretical research and has made great achievements in the applied
researches.”
Dr. Zhou told NCKU President Hwung-Hweng Hwung that the cooperation between
NCKU and Lanzhou U. has to be grounded on frequent visit and staff exchange.
He said, “NCKU Professors are welcomed to lecture at Lanzhou U. where the
staff and students are willing to exchange the experience and knowledge in
the academic fields.
Zhou’s delegation was interested in academic cooperation in management,
education and Chinese literature and history.
NCKU President Hwung welcomed the delegation, “NCKU earns her reputation as
a top-tier university in Taiwan, because of its great achievement in
research, academia-industry collaboration and its excellent researchers.”
He added, “NCKU’s number of SCI papers published in engineering from 2000
to 2010 is the best in Taiwan and ranked 14th in the world.”
President Zhou praised NCKU for being a distinguished university in Taiwan
and said he can see a big potential in collaborative projects between
Lanzhou U. and NCKU.
“Lanzhou U., founded in 1909, is one of the top universities directly
administered by the Ministry of Education and elected as one of the key
universities in “Project 211” and “Project 985” in China.“ according to
President Zhou, adding that Lanzhou U. is outstanding in the basic
theoretical research and has made great achievements in the applied
researches.
Zhou pointed out that Lanzhou U. ranks one of the top universities which has
published the largest amount of essays and of the highest citation rate. He
said, “The number of the essays published and cited by SCI takes the 15th
and 20th place among the Chinese higher institutions respectively.”
NCKU had signed Momentum of Understanding (MOU) with the College of
Literature, Lanzhou U., in 2011, to initiate a 5-year collaboration project,
promoting the academic collaboration on Chinese Literature, according to
Yuh-Neu Chen, Vice Dean of College of Liberal Arts. |
