D**********s 发帖数: 320 | 2 If you are a citizen, you should try to clerk for Federal judges.
Some law firms offer extra bonus for incoming judicial clerks.
Of course Supreme Court Clerkship is the highest honor for a law student.
My dream !!! Too bad I am not a citizen.

L***d 发帖数: 154 | 3 I think the current rate is more like 80K/year plus 60K clerkship bonus in
competitive markets. |
l*********h 发帖数: 77 | 4 the current clerkship salary is around 55k, depending on your location and prior experience. most clerks start at GS-11 step 1 of the federal government pay scale (you can look up the exact salary number here based on your location: http://www.opm.gov/oca/07tables/gscalcul.asp)
clerkship bonus at major law firms is 50k for one year of clerkship. a
number of firms will also give 20k for a second year of clerkship to people
joining their litigation practice (but corporate people typically don't |
b******n 发帖数: 1269 | 5 If you want to go into politics. Yes. If not, it's useless. In the first
2 years at a firm, there is some prestige attached to a clerkship, but it
has less than 1% effect on whether you can make partner -- will get your
chance from 4% to 4.04%. Partnership is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
$$$

k****a 发帖数: 309 | 6 Now here is why I asked the clerk question:
most foreign law students are either not interested in or not eligible for
clerkships
foreign students should see a somewhat different landscape in law school
ranking
since some schools are ranked high because they produce lots of clerks but
are bad in IP, M/A, etc
prior experience. most clerks start at GS-11 step 1 of the federal
government pay scale (you can look up the exact salary number here based on
your location: http://www.opm.gov/oca/07table
