底特律那个鸟地方
—— 至今犹忆陈果仁
中国北方一家很大的汽车配件公司打来电话，说美国密西根州州长带经贸团访华，同他
们公司接触，希望他们能到底特律投资，购买不景气的美国公司，或者至少设个办事处
什么的，问我意见如何。我当即拍案大怒，在电话里大叫：此事万万不可！在哪里投资
都行，就是不能为底特律创造就业机会，你们要是有点血性，就听我的不要去！
我说出这样情绪化的重话，非常反常，极不 professional, 且损人不利己。但我必须
这样做，因为在我心里，底特律一直欠着我一条命，欠着我们一个公道。
这便是那个让北美华人永远心痛的棒杀陈果仁案。今年 6 月 19 日是陈果仁被害 24
周年，在北美华人最活跃的文学城里我没有看到有人提起这件事， 很失望，看样子大
家都在忙着跑马，遛狗，怀旧，男欢女爱， |

发帖数: 24887 | 4 It is not terribly long. Not to mention it is in Chinese. Moreover, you may
not be in Detroit, but you are in Michigan (I assume). I have a close friend
whose brother has lived in Michigan since he ever came to this country (
that is more than 10 years). He said that Michigan is such a place that the
longer you stay here, the less you like it. Of course this is just what he
said, but I tend to think there must be a reason for someone to make such a
strong statement on a place.

再说，事件的范围（时间和地域）都是由个人界定的，小可以小到当时（25年前）当地
（底特律），大则可以大到25年后的美国。为什么原作者没有argue因为中国移民后裔2
5年前在美国受到欺凌而应该断绝所有中国在美国的投资呢？
这个帖子可以当笑话看，因为：
1、如果我能把帖子转给胡或者温的话，我不会在这个版上混；
2、记住凶手的样子和名字对个人来说有什么意义？难道我还应该记住所有中国人在美国
受到的不公么？

about logic---how the original post was presented was irrelevant. What is
relevant is what happened to Chin and why this could happen in Michigan. Of
course, you have total freedom in reaching your own conclusion, but I beg to
differ in my own way.
And just so you know, Michigan ranks constantly in the national top tier for
hate crime.

视是美国社会的痼疾，单靠白人的自我反省和良心发现去解决从来是痴人说梦。还是要
少数族裔自我奋发和坚持斗争。金博士的伟大贡献之一正在于给大家树立这么一个斗争
的榜样。
果仁同学的悲剧对我们可能有更多的意义。现在的底特律经济上一片愁云惨雾。人口就
业不断流失。这样的大背景下，容易产生更多Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz那样的
loser,把自身的竞争的失败归结于外来者。更有一些无耻的政客和媒体，为了迎合选民
的心态，不号召自我反省，反而把一切的责任推卸到out source。中国制造的负面新闻
层出不穷，一方面有产品质量的问题，另一方面，也有美国社会对外来竞争的恐惧和嫉
妒的因素。所以，如何解决中国竞争带来的负面效应，应该是中国企业，也包括我们在
美中国人应该注意和思考的。

the historical facts. You never ever mentioned Chin being killed as if this
was totally irrelevant in the original post. No wonder I could not follow
your logic, because I am not a person who is merely governed by logics. And
you can feel relieved by your own definition of hate crime. Good for you.
