Friday the effectiveness of City Hall’s call for New Yorkers to cover
their faces outside, which was the latest move by Big Apple authorities
desperate to slow the coronavirus pandemic.
Zucker told reporters during a Friday press conference that there was “no
clear evidence” covering faces would help slow the spread of the disease,
but added his office was continuing to look into the matter.
Cuomo then jumped in and added: “Might it help? I think it’s fair to say
yes but don’t get a false sense of security.”
The comments come just hours after Mayor Bill de Blasio advised New Yorkers
living in the five boroughs to cover their faces if they step outside, as
new evidence emerged from Asia that the coronavirus can be spread by people
without symptoms.
“Out of an abundance of caution, this is what I’m saying to all New
Yorkers: Take a scarf, take a bandanna, just anything you have at home, just
cover your face if you’re going to be in close contact with people who are
not your own family under your own roof,” de Blasio told CNN during a
Friday morning interview. |
