Starting in 1992, those kinds of arrangement were done away with in the SEC
by the formal scheduling format of the 12-team superconference, although a
couple of series continued to be played at "neutral" sites at Birmingham or
Jacksonville for several years
It was too big a game to waste in that dump in Oxford. Both teams made a lot
more money this way.
Not many people realieze that from the 30's through the 60's Tiger Stadium
and Tulane Stadium were two of the best venues for football in the South.
And for the poster who mentioned the series with Arkansas in Shreveport,
from 1913 to 1936 LSU and Arkansas played EVERY year in Shreveport. That's
23 games in a row - not counting 1918. "
