Ohio State interim coach Luke Fickell said on Monday that the problems
surrounding his program hadn't hurt the team's recruiting efforts yet.
The key word might have been "yet." A player who had already signed with the
Buckeyes in February now wants out because of the turmoil in Columbus.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that linebacker Ejuan Price has
requested a release from his letter of intent. According to his high school
coach, Price asked for his release a month ago.
"He just didn't feel any stability there even before [Jim] Tressel resigned,
" Woodland Hills (Pa.) High School coach George Novak said.
Novak told the paper that Ohio State will let Price know on Friday whether
he has been released. The Buckeyes are under no obligation to do so.
Price was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 12 inside linebacker in
the Class of 2011 by ESPN.com. He also considered Iowa among many others
before signing with Ohio State.
Stay tuned. The fallout may just be beginning for the Buckeyes.
