Has anybody received the J1 waiver approval from USCIS recently? For my case
, the DOS has sent out the recommendation letter on Jan 12, but the USCIS
status is still showing "initial review". The USCIS web page lists the
processing time for I612 J1 waiver is 4 months.

thus I got a chance to check the status from the USCIS web site. Then I will
be just patient. :)

If you need to contact USCIS, you need go to Infopass to get your 13 digit
case number firstly.

打了电话，不过人家直接就给我转到uscis 了，后来按照版上的办法终于接到cs，可是
查了说是我的信息还没有进入到系统，让我再等5-10 bussiness day，再打电话，难道
只能做info pass吗（没有receipt#，是不是做不了）？
离我们这的uscis local office好远，

No.YOu still can do and search Receipt Number if you go to USCIS Local
office. |

统输入信息可能需要up to 60 days。那这样我作info pass，uscis local office能够
找到我的file吗，我的h-1B申请估计再有3周左右就要递交了，真是愁人 |

from USCIS on Feb 8. |

I called the USCIS and was told it was under precessing now. They told me it
can be as late as May 19th.
Let's keep informed each other about the process.

If not working, you have to write a letter to White House Mrs. Obama's
office to get help.
If you don't want to do anything, you have to wait.

if I do an info pass? I cannot convince him why I couldn't wait for 4
months. 官方说法是j1 waiver需要4个月，现在只过了一个半月， 我不知道我有什么
立场和理由去跟senator说。做info pass的唯一结果就是被直接打回来，因为根本还没

Seriously, I really don't understand your answer to every J1 waiver question
...always info pass. It's nice to offer help, but it's something else if you
offer help irresponsibly

If you are not so emergent, you can wait up to for 4 months.
In the past several years, this kind of cases VSC should be precessed in 2-4
weeks, some cases only took 1 week.
If you don't want to contact USCIS, you can wait.
If you don't go to Infopass or call USCIS, you do not know any information.
My J waiver case took 22 months, I experienced so much troubles.
I saw one case he finished J waiver in 2004, but couldn't get I-797, in 2007, he went to Infopass and got case number, and paid $350 got I-797 in 2007, so he could file I-485.
