I am an engineer with strong mathematics background. I am planning to apply
for MFE program. A program director suggested me to improve my finance
background prior to application. I am wondering if I shall take micro or
macro economics.

Secondly, in your case, I would suggest CFA program. It may not be very usef
ul for pure quants, but it's good to improve your finance background.
Indeed, participation in CFA program can show your commitment in finance and
one of the top MFE programs often lists it as a condition for some admissio
ns.

I got same impression from talking to some MFE program staff that CFA could
be positive when applying. I also heard that John Hull's book covers a lot
of CFA content. |
