Features
The Kearny Mesa Lunar New Year Festival features traditional fun-filled
family elements such as Asian Food, Lion Dances, Firecracker shows and Red-
Envelope Giveaway, as well exciting Carnival Rides, Games, Merchandise, and
Hip-Hop, Lion Dance, and Talent Competitions.
The Lunar New Year is celebrated in many Asian communities, particularly
those whose countries and territories have significant Chinese populations,
such as Mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Tibet, Macau, Malaysia,
Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and also in Chinatowns elsewhere.
Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had
influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well
as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These
include Koreans (Seollal), and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar),
Vietnamese (Tết), and the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu).
Location, location, location
Nestled amidst a vibrant Asian business area that is geographically central
among all the Asian communities, the SEARS Parking Lot serves as an easy
access for customers from all over San Diego.
Situated on Clairemont Mesa Blvd between the I-805 and Convoy Street, our
lively festival offers high-level exposure of participating sponsors to the
48,000 cars passing by each day (according to the San Diego Association of
Government – SANDAG).

20,000 to 30,000 participants from all over San Diego.
The Festival Layout: Partnership with SEARS Essentials
