if want to watch ocean at sunset, best place would be Ocean Beach in San
Francisco and Santa Cruz beaches. both 30-40 minutes drive. Half-moon bay
beach are not nearly as nice.
both these beaches are cold at night, and are reasonably safe. but safety
caution is advised ( maybe some homeless people wandering around).
