第15届夏季奥林匹克运动会
the summer olympic games of 1952
第十五届奥林匹克运动会于1952年7月19日至8月3日，在芬兰首
都赫尔辛基举行。
1947年6月，国际奥委会在斯德哥尔摩会议上讨论第十五届奥运
会会址，当时提出申办本届奥运会的有芬兰的赫尔辛基、荷兰的阿姆
斯特丹、希腊的雅典、美国的底特律、美国的明尼阿波利斯、瑞士的
洛桑、美国的费城、瑞典的斯德哥尔摩，还有美国的芝加哥，共9个
城市。会议期间，各个城市都派来了由市长率领的代表团游说，气氛
相当热烈。考虑到1940年战争迫在眉睫且日本东京宣布不承办奥运会
时，芬兰毅然接过这个任务，虽然后来因为战争的原因没有办成，但
赫尔辛基已经早在1940年就着手准备承办奥运会。国际奥委会最后通
过投票表决，把第十五届奥运会的会址定在赫尔辛基。
芬兰虽然人口不多，幅员不大，但体育运动相当普及，在冬、夏
奥运会都取得过优异成绩，为奥林匹克运动做出了有益的贡献。芬兰
的首都赫尔辛基是芬兰主要的海港，拥有40多万人口，工业比较发达
，有古城堡、露天博物馆等古迹，市内的塞内特广场为欧洲最美的广
场之一，每年6月仲夏为
