1. The accident started from a gas bubble in the well, and this is normal in
drilling or production wells.
2. As the gas bubble traveled up, it inflated (pressure decreases, volume
increases, temperature drops). When it reached the surface and bursted out,
it was already a big cold gas pot, and spread everywhere on the platform.
3. At this moment, usually they should shut down all equipment, especially
the engine to avoid any possible sparks to lit the gas. |

测到bubble就自动shut down the engine? |

Difficult to get more offshore drilling permits
1. offshore production reduction - E&P companies have to focus on onshore
and land wells to deliver projected production for wall street's review. :-)
2. drilling rigs could float out of GOM and won't come back in serveral
years
3. State will lost revenue with less production
Higher offshore drilling insurance
1. small independence cannot afford offshore drilling

This is a dangerous business, and this platform is probably as
normal as other ones. BP is unlucky this time.

Agree that offshore driling and production has high risks. But BP was trying
to speed up the drilling (mud circulation wasn't done properly) while
reducing the cost (BOP wasn't installed? or designed? properly). And then
Murphy's law came to play. |

GOOGLE一下BP的那个井，设计是LINER，LINER，LINER最后一个LONG STRING CASING。
打了CEMENT PLUG，听说PLUG NEGATIVE TEST FAILED （底下往上没封住）。另外又有
说最后的CASING TOC（TOP OF CEMENT）根本没有在LINER的SHOE以上。其实才14#的PP
，但是上面换SEA WATER，压力不够，有KICK。CLOSE BOP，显示BOP CLOSE了，但是事
实上BOP FAILED。
这个情况，无解。现在技术还真没办法。

发帖数: 5391 | 20 那个是连续井喷了，不是一个BUBBLE。一般遇到KICK，BUBBLE大小和压力以及钻井队反
应快慢有关，但是一般都是封了，再CIRCULATION。几个到几十个BBL是一般的。

BP后来确实已经做得差不多很好了，其它公司还有什么办法？恐怕这个就是现在DEEP
WATER DRILLING的技术极限了。唯一能想的就是BP的WELL DESIGN有问题，BOP的问题。
