20 million in recent weeks, a top aide told the Wall Street Journal.
The presumptive GOP nominee helped raise at least $10 million from New York
City fundraisers this month, Trump's national finance chair Steve Mnuchin
said in a Wednesday interview with the WSJ.
Another $9 million was reportedly raised in Texas fundraisers. The combined
$19 million will go to Trump Victory, a joint account between the Trump
campaign and the RNC. Most of those funds are under the party's control but
can be used on field staff and data infrastructure to help Trump's get-out-
the-vote operations.
The Trump campaign raised an additional $3 million since releasing its first
small-dollar online fundraising email on Tuesday, according to Mnuchin.
Trump pledged to match donations from that push up to $2 million.
"Given we launched this at the end of May, we couldn't be happier with how
this is progressing," Mnuchin told the WSJ. "We were very surprised at some
of the articles commenting on the lack of funding, particularly given we had
just started the fundraising at the end of May, and the campaign had been
self-financed prior to that."
The Trump campaign reported just $1.3 million cash-on-hand at the end of May
, which was more than $40 million behind presumptive Democratic nominee
Hillary Clinton. The Trump fundraising report, released by the Federal
Election Commission on Monday night, prompted widespread panic among
