party's 2020 White House nomination are coming out against a two-year budget
deal.
Democratic Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Kamala Harris (Calif.),
Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) and Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) each said
separately on Thursday that they will vote against the package needed to
stave off a government shutdown scheduled to start at midnight.
Each of the lawmakers pointed to the lack of a resolution for the Deferred
Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program as a reason for their
opposition.
Congress has until March 5 to pass a fix for the program or hundreds of
thousands of immigrants brought into the country illegally as children will
be at risk of being deported. |
