李双舟，云南昆明人，中国科技大学生命科学院的学生，于2004年在中科院昆明动物研究
所做毕业论文，同年被保送到中科院上海生命科学研究院健康科学中心攻读硕-博连读研
究生。
不幸的是，2004年3月23日，他被诊断为急性白血病。在他患病期间，家里花光了积
蓄，科大为他报销了部分医疗费用，他身边的老师、同学和朋友也为他捐助了近十万元，
经过十多次化疗，才使他的病情得到有效控制。
“然而我又是幸运的，在台湾找到了骨髓配对。可是巨额的手术费用又使我的父母
一筹莫展。
目前在家人、学校、同学、老师、朋友和热心人们的积极帮助下，移植的入仓预缴费
已经凑足，这里面包含着关心我的人们的千千万万的关心和祝福，2005 年3月我将带着这 |

with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status granted by US IRS. So it has
to follow the laws regulating this type of non-profit foundation
such as whatever money raised has to be spent on programs defined
by its mission statement.
That is why USTCAF can NOT pass any money to alumni encountering
various kinds of financial difficulties. For the same reason,
any alumni foundation such as THU/PKU or MIT/Harvard Alumni
Foundation can NOT do that eithe

免税资格吧？

1. If the proposal is to ask USTCAF use its donation to
help alumni in financial difficulty, it should NEVER
happen, because to change how USTCAF uses its money,
you have to ask those who have made donations in the
last 10 years;
2. I wonder whether the foundations for THU/PKU, Harvard/MIT
ever have any such mission statement :)
3. If the proposal is to ask USTCAF to set up fund to collect
donation for alumni in financial difficulties, then it

发帖数: 343 | 9 我觉得关键是第三条，难以保证公平性。前面两条都不是问题：1.钱将从一项独立的基金
里面出，不会影响完成其他任务所需要的资金；2.咱可以开创先河嘛。。。:)
对国外的校友比较实际的建议是，买好一点的医疗和人身保险吧。
