1. Create leverage.
Usually, the leverage you have is your expertise. Build a marketable
skillset using company time is important.
If your manager doesn't sponsor your Spark training, and doesn't like it
that you watch coursera in office hours, leave.
2. Take control.
Don't just follow orders. A professional like you and me must take control
of how the work is done. Tell the boss:" If you need to give me
responsibilities, you need also give me authorities." Remember, we sell our
expertise, not service, not to mention subordination.
In particular, it is important to control priorities of work, i.e. in the
long term, always put self improvement over anything else; in the short term
, only do one thing per day and do it well.
3. Manage expectations.
Non experts tend to have unrealistic exceptions on experts (e.g. patients to
doctors). It is important to manage your manager's expectations, be honest
and tell what is possible. If you don't know, say you need time to do more
research. Do not promise anything before diagnosing.
In particular, if given unimportant and boring work, make it fail, but looks
like nobody's fault, at least not your fault.
4. Defend territory.
Guard your skillset, make yourself a necessity. Never team play. "Team play"
is like patriotism, the idea is to make you sacrifice for the benefits of
another person. If asked to help others, direct them to a list of papers,
instead of teaching them anything using your time.
An exception is your friends, who you feel happy making sacrifice for.
5. Maintain image.
Remember, you are a professional, people count on you. Never say negative
things to your profession (e.g. "programmers are nerds"), because that hurts
the brand image.
6. Build alliances.
Make friends with co-workers, HR people, anyone in the company. Hang out
often, remember some jokes to tell at different situations. Detect people
who can back you up, people who can give you valuable information, and
people you need to keep a distance (e.g. whiners).
(To be contintued) | c***z 发帖数: 6348 | 2 最近又总结了一下,怎么对付坏老板的
1. Don't fear.
All tyrannies used fear to rule. Once your emotional balance is lost, you
become easy victim. A variation of fear is anger, don't anger as well. Be
professional, document everything.
2. Everyone has weakness.
Usually, a person must maintain good image to clime the ladder. And that
would be his weakness. If you can show your potential to damage his image (e
.g. routing meetings with his boss), you will have his respect.
If a person doesn't care about his image, it is rare that he can be a
manager. And that would be his weakness as well.
But be careful. Don't use it easily. When you have to use it, be
professional, say nothing but facts.
3. Time is your friend.
Very few questions need to be answered immediately. Say you need more time
to do research when being asked a tough question.
Also, you should not lie, but you don't have to tell everyone everything. If
you don't feel comfortable to answer a question, say: I would rather not to
discuss this. A person who is careful about his image will stop there.

加两点
4. Have principals.
Love, friendship, family, they are very important and good to have. But at
the end of the day, what can save you is your principals. My principal is
simple: be loyal to my job description
Nobody can keep winning, and you can't please everyone all the time. If you
are fair, friendly, professional and honorable, then even your enemies will
respect you, and you will rise again, very soon.
In corporate America, the evil doesn't come from people, but from the system
. Respect your enemies as human beings - the amount of respect you need for
your enemy is that you will not run over him in the parking lot, no more, no
less.
5. Be objective.
If you are treated unfairly, don't fear or anger. Move yourself out of the
picture, and imagine it is happening to your co-worker. If you still feel
that your co-worker is being treated unfairly, fight for him. You will have
justice on your side because you are fighting for a cause, not for yourself.
Again, be professional when fighting, use only facts, let others figure out
the story. Fight against issues, not people.

take a look at this on my computer? 或者来一句 what time is our department
meeting today? 我有时候觉得这样被打扰很烦,但是又拉不下脸
对于第一个烙印,我担心的是他会把我的skillset学会,而他的skillset我又没兴趣学
,该怎么拒绝帮助他学呢?;
第二个烙印纯粹就是恶心人,我知道对付这种人要脸皮硬,黑脸一回应该就好了
