iPhone 4 has been unlocked before. every time, after a couple week, apple
company will issue a update and patch the unlock, make all the people who
bought iphone incapable to make phone call. Reason is simple, iphone has to
pair with a data plan. But as most iphone unlocker, they prefer a phone
without a data plan. It is like drive a sport car and fuel no. 87. It will not
give you good performance. But buyer consider this as a freedom to choose
instead of persuasion.
So here we go, about 4 month again, after apple issue firmware 4.1 from 4.0.
2. all the iphone can not longer unlock. the phone become brick or 600
dollar ipod touch.
as the single largest iphone consumer country: China. there has never been a
contribution on unlocking from Main land China. people like to say
Planetbeing is a chinese, well, he call hiself Canadian Chinese.
On 3/12, the rumor says a group of Chinese who call themself Gevey has
unlocked iphone 4 with a sim card adapter, no one believe this, the video
that group posted online caused some suspicions, the leader of iPhone dev
team musclenerd immediately says the way to refresh sim card connection with
a sim card adapter has been patched by apple 3 year ago, it is not possible
to solve the unlocking in that route.
the Gevey was a big name in iPhone 3g era, when iPhone 3g just come out,
there are golden days, they had unlocked iphone with sim card adapter.
which is most reliable unlocking adapter. now after 3 year, they want to do
a comeback?
well, yes, they did it. Athough, no one believe it, they did it. They don't
even have a marketing department, it is a tiny company will a few employee,
they are making good money now. They promise to release the unlock solution in 3/17, and they did. the retail price of each unlock is 388 RMB
or 350 from discount seller. wholesell price is about 70%. they are making
about 30 dollar per each unlock.
the moral of this story is, for the first time, Chinese did it. At most the beginning, no one believe Chinese can do it. But yes, this time, Chinese did it. | x******e
