Animal Alliance in Lambertville, New Jersey has been adversely affected by
the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Both our Planned Pethood Low Cost Spay/
Neuter Clinic and our shelter/kennel have been without power since the storm
, though the kennel is running on generator power.
This is by far one of the largest challenges we have faced in our 11 year
history. Our clinic has been closed for a week, and we do not know when
power will be restored so we can reopen. Our supplier of donated pet food
has been closed, and we are receiving pleas for help for animals in need
around the clock.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!
We are in desperate need of the following items, which can be dropped off
anytime at the front door of our clinic located at 1432 Route 179 North,
Lambertville, NJ, 08530:
Cat Food (Canned and Dry), Cat Litter, Canned Dog Food, Gift Cards to Dogs &
Cats Rule, Petco, Petsmart, PetValu, & Wal-Mart so we can purchase
essential supplies to keep both our clinic and kennel running in perfect
order.
We are also in need of foster and adoptive homes to open up room for animals
displaced by the hurricane. Sadly, many families are finding that they do
not have homes to go back to after evacuating to temporary shelters where
time will soon run out for their stay. Shelters and rescues in New Jersey
and New York are already overburdened. They will likely become even more so
in the days and weeks ahead, as displaced households face the grim reality
that it could be close to a year before they have a roof over their heads
again, and they may need to give up precious and beloved family pets in
order to move into rental apartments, in with relatives, or into other
different accommodations where pets are not allowed or welcomed.
If you are fortunate enough to have survived Hurricane Sandy with minimal
damage to your home and life, please consider opening your heart and home to
a pet in need, even just as a temporary foster home. Whether you choose
Animal Alliance or another shelter or rescue, please consider an agency that
is directly serving local animals displaced by the hurricane or making room
for hurricane-displaced animals, versus one that is importing animals in
from out-of-state at this catastrophic time for our local communities.
To help inspire our wonderful supporters and volunteers to do their part to
help, Animal Alliance is offering a $10 adoption fee for any cat/kitten, as
well as a certificate good for a free set of vaccines & Home Again Microchip
for another animal in your home (rabies, distemper, bordatella & microchip
for dogs; rabies & distemper and microchip for cats). This certificate is
valid for a one year period. Since our cats already come spayed/neutered,
tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and current on all vaccines, this is a
great way to economize and cost-justify a new pet due to the savings you
will have on annual vaccines for an existing pet.
