第一个owner 一次total loss reported, airbag deployed,一次severe damage:
Accident reported in Saint Louis.
Involving front impact with another motor vehicle.
Front airbag deployed.
第二个owner 一次severe damage:
2009年一个rebuild title issued.
Manufacturer's recommended maintenance performed.
Oil and filter changed chassis lubricated.
报告是说有过2次accident么
能看出事故的严重程度吗
这辆车的其他条件我都很喜欢，里程数，车型。
我不知道accident意味着什么，是不是有accident的车隐患特多，所以都不能买，还是
也分事故的情况而定？

今天天气不错就想自己动手修车。
上个星期买了NGK的火花塞，想自己动手换上。
把车开到Advanced Auto Parts， 借到了要用的工具。 因为是V6的引擎，所以有6个火
花塞要换。前面三个很容易就搞定了。依次把火花塞盖卸掉，用3/8"的socket把旧的火
花塞卸掉。（图片里有就旧的火花塞的照片，还是Toyota原装的Denso，车跑了12万
mile了，上任车主可能从没换过，确实该换了）。把新的火花塞涂上anti-seize, 和
lubricant（另一头上，AAP的人推荐的，说是帮助导电），用socket装上。
但是想换后面三个火花塞的时候，发现wrench根本够不到。尝试了半天只好放弃了。

发帖数: 766 | 6 I don't think it is good idea to use WD40 for serpentine belt. It is not
recommended to use any lubrication for the belt -- it will cause problems
for the belt-driven accessories like water pump, power steering pump,
alternator, etc.
If you hear noise from serpentine belt, it is usually because the belt gets
loose, you can either adjust and tight up the belt (if it is manual
adjustable) or you have to replace a new one (for auto ajustable ones). |

they will 99% likely do it for you. No Charge.
#1. I go either dino (dinosaur) oil or full synthetic, hard for me to
evaluation synblend. (it is 50% 50% blend or what?). to answer your question
, yes, synblend is better than dino to some extend.

发帖数: 766 | 10 9万mile，idle的时候能感觉到轻微的misfire。换完之后感觉idle安静很多，没有misfire的感觉了。
拆下来发现一个缸的火花塞锈的比较厉害。最里面的两个火花塞永远是最难access的 -
- 需要耐心。熟练使用套管扳转向适配头是关键。
一共八个火花塞 -- 照完照片发现少照了一个换下来的 -- 还好，不是少装了一个。
照片里黄色的连接头是fuel injector的wire connector，有的需要拔下来以腾出空间
来access 点火线圈。
所用的工具 -- 别忘了涂一层anti-seize lubricant到新的火花塞的螺纹上。
spark plug socket也是必须的工具之一。
socket racket (3/8'')
3/8'' to 1/4'' adapter
socket universal joint (1/4'')
socket universal joint (3/8'')
socket extension (various length)
断开电池负极。

if you are leaking, heavier oil will tend to leak less.
and with the save weight (as marked), synthetic has better lubrication
property at cold --> hence potentially leak a bit more overnight when the
engine cool down.
Slow oil leak by itself is not a problem, just need to check regularly and
fill it to spec when needed. |

也寿终正寝了。
昨天去买了刹车片，今天早上趁着太阳还不高，用了两个小时搞定。
碟刹比鼓刹好换了不知道多少倍。
记得上次换后刹的时候我跟同事两个人前后折腾将近5个小时。
唯一遇到的麻烦就是开始卸CALIPER的时候，螺丝太紧，然后拧的方向无法确定，还从新上网查
YOUTUBE，但有些YOUTUBE对于这种很细小的说明要么就根本没有说明，要么就一笔带过
，因此废了些劲。
拆下来的时候发现表面还好，用我菜鸟的眼神看没有太大的磨损。反正也是老车一部，
没必要换。
看换下来的PAD的时候还是吓了一跳。其中一片已经磨穿。
花费：

break cleaner 1.99
lubricant 99 cent
现在小车又运转正常了。
碟刹的车换起来还是很容易的。鼓励大家有空也多多尝试下。

Lexus：03年，9.3万迈，平均1.35万迈/yr（算是low milage）, 5 Service records ，
Audi： 03年，7.3万迈，平均1万迈/yr（算是low milage），20 Service records ，
从这个报告数据来开，
此款日本车，7年间，只有2次 Oil and filter changed chassis lubricated。
此款奥迪，7年间，Battery replaced，Rear brake pads replaced，Brake light
bulb replaced，Fuel filter replaced，Light bulb(s) replaced多次记录。
一家之言，不具有代表性，大家在选车的时候，重要的是看车子的历史报告和亲身驾驶
情况，不能盲从。

2：报告上说： at 26K miles, "Front door adjusted, Oil and filter changed
chassis lubricated".
Does this indicate a minor fix (like a defects that shows up after 26K
miles) or does it indicate something accident related?
There is a "Additional History" section, which has summary for "Total
Loss", "Structural / Frame Damage", etc, everything in this section "No
issues reported".

最后socket断在里面了... 最后只能拖车
impact gun可有可无, 小车没必要. 需要个hydraulic trolley jack.
2-ton得就可以了. jack stand可以用木头或者砖头代替, 用hydraulic jack
得时候要架在金属支撑得部位, 拉上emergency brake. 还有就是照块别太
软得平地. leg nuts因车而异有得真得锈死了可能又需要lubricant又需要把
hydraulic jack得杆子取下来做breaker bar得延长杠杆. |

old outer shim + old inner shim + old brake pad <---> disk(rotor) <--> old
brake pad + old inner shim + old outer shim。
根据网上研究，inner shim 是有上面有缝隙的，outer shim是没有缝隙的。
既然这个贴片是shim，那么装了以后是：
old outer shim + old inner shim + new shim+ new brake pad <---> disk(rotor)
<--> new brake pad + new shim + old inner shim + old outer shim。
每个brake pad 有三个 pad shim，这样对吗？

Any time I've seen the P0171 code on other vehicles, that exactly what it was #1) dirty/faulty MAF sensor. 2) Vacuum leak. Usually somewhere around the upper intake manifold (gasket, O-ring, etc..)
To look for vacuum leaks, you could use a hose in the ear (yeah, I know, Don's getting funny!). Seriously, use a vacuum hose with one end near your ear and the other end moved around the engine to likely leak points - hose nipples, gaskets, and so forth. of lubricants are designed for different applications. For your case, Engine
Oil is not a good choice because that it is hard to keep the Engine Oil in
the bearing of your furnace.
So grease is a better solution to your problem. |

black oil doesn't mean it has no lubrication capability, if you have a
diesel car, by the time you drive your car off the diesel station the oil
would probably turn into charcoal black already
you don't have to overtighten the filter, so you can remove it easily by a
filter wrench, even by your hands. K&N is more expensive though.
Next time buy a large drain pan like this:

worn out. Try to use wd40 to lubricate them to see if the problem goes away.
This is usually the most common source of your squeaking noise and the
cheapest one to fix.
KEEP IN MIND, wd 40 is only a temporary solution, if you locate the source
of the problem, have the bushings replaced with grease applied. Usually you
can do it by yourself, but a normal mechanic shop will charge you only $10-$

觉还可以。当场要了carfax回来
查了一下，两个owner，结果发现前一个是corporate fleet，9个月开了1w6 mi，然后
通过auction卖到了第二个
owner，就是我见得那个，私人，（他说他是从dealer那里买的）开了四年半。现在总
共75k mi。
看保养似乎做得很不够？carfax有fleet和auction的话是不是碰不得的？尤其是一开始
9个月开了1w6，可是后一个
owner开了4年半才卖掉的，按理来说是不是车况还可以呢（还是说开了4年发现不大行
了再卖掉。。。）？这样的车能
不能考虑呢？还是说，这车值不值得去做一个mechanical check再作考虑呢？本人新手
，完全不懂车，求救各位，谢

but standard ball joints must be lubed from time to time. It's best to
inspect standard ball joints once a year. Generally speaking, standard ball
joints will outlive sealed ones because eventually the seal will break,
causing the joint to dry out and rust. While there is no exact lifespan that
can be put on a sealed ball joint, they can fail as early as 80,000 miles.
