算除法了，可是人家好像对science不感兴趣。成天就在画画，写书（她最喜欢干的就
是把几张白纸钉一起，每张画一张画，下面写一段话，然后几页连成一个故事）。她不
喜欢恐龙，也不喜欢其他丑的东西。
昨天问她一道题，一只蜗牛每天爬二寸，掉一寸，第几天能爬到第五寸，她做不出来。
有一个男孩比她大10个月的，大概两个月前很快就答出来了，而且逻辑很清楚。那个小
男孩特别喜欢science,喜欢观察小动物什么的。
我在想，那些后来理工科成绩很好的女孩，小时候喜欢science么？
象我们家小女孩这样的，比较有想像力的，语言很好，画画很棒的小孩，长大了做点什

謂 IF 高, 最低要要 > 5. 但 Computer Science 的人, 基本上是非常困難拿到一篇
IF > 5 的 journal paper, 通常 > 3 或者有些領域 >2 也算是很厲害了.
這樣的話, 如果申請青千會否很吃虧呢? 跟 nature science 的人, 或跟 medical /
engineering 的人來拼, 肯定輸蝕得多了! |

发帖数: 175 | 18 Web of Science可以说是世界上最懒最慢的引用检索,平时根本不看，但是国内很流行
，所以没办法。主要体现如下：
（1）速度慢，往往文章发表几个月后才进入数据库，这与Google Scholar, Inspire
HEP, SAO-NASA等相比简直就是垃圾。
（2）不能把文章处于预印本阶段就被引用的体现出来。比如文章放在arXiv上，为发表
之前就被引用，而这些施引文献如果不更改或者比你的文章发表还早，那在数据库里就
一个无用的arXiv编号；
（3）Web of Science人手不够，而且经常偷懒。如果不是青千，我还懒得去仔细看。
因为发现引用数明显少于自己知道的，就去仔细调研了一把。发现很多文章虽然进入数
据库，但是因为工作人员偷懒，有些没有录入参考文献，有些只有一部分，或者有些录
入错误。
破解方法：
在ISI web of science网页下面有反馈，点击进入，然后提交你要求的更正。现在可以
确认的是：如果别人引用你的arXiv文章号，可以要求更改为正式的刊号，从而在times
cited上显示。其他的问题，比如(3),一定要语气强硬，直接说你们的数据库天下第一

、莆田市民朱京华、西安市民蔡云辉等都曾因听信传销团伙的谎言，而成为劣质产品的

citation.
但是我们social science 的好像发文章好难。一年能挤出个1篇算阿弥陀佛了。
一般一个phd 毕业是还可能是全裸，没有任何publication。所以十分困惑。Social
Science 的指标是不是会低一些。
（1）Social Science 的人申请eb1b需要达到什么样的publication 和 citation
（2）有什么办法可以弥补上面的缺陷。

indexed by web of science 而是indexed by MEDLINE，所以不能加进去。
在ISI里面，如果看citation，web of science里面的，比from all database的少很多
呀。难道真的是人品不好，cite我文章的人，都发在那些非常奇怪的journal上？ |

Eigenfactor directly. In Eigenfactor website, Plos One is categorized in
Biology ranked as No. 1, but in WOS, it's sorted in Multidisciplinary
sciences which makes it not stand out as so many top tier journals like
Science, Nature etc. in there. |

发帖数: 2175 | 43 儿子今年高中毕业了,因为成绩不太好,申请UW的COMPUTER SCIENCE 被拒,但被WSU接受
了,俺心理有些犹豫,不知道该不该让他去上.
儿子因为有AUTISM,所以现在生活不能INDEPENDENT,要是去WSU的话,俺还必须跟着去,这
样一来开销很大,或许让他先上COLLEGE的COURSE, 过个一,两年,能TRANSFER到UW更好,
或者TRANSFER到WSU也不错.
其实俺最想儿子能回CANADA的VANCOUVER的SFU上,我们是加国的公民 回到SFU读
COMPUTER SCIENCE,一方面该校有对DISIBILITY的特许政策,另一方面俺可以回加国后找
分工作,经济上可以减轻一些压力.但是申请SFU的NORMAL ADMISSION 被拒之于门外,现
在申请它的WAIVER ADIMISSION FOR DISABILITY 又没有消息, 所以很是焦急. 另外就COMPUTER SCIENCE而言, 大家认为SFU和WSU那个要好一些?

过去的二十年来，心理学家们列出了长长的“东西方差异”的清单，诸如西方文化崇尚
个人主义和分析性思考，东方人更偏好集体主义和整体性思考。为什么会存在这样的文
化差异？日前，美国弗吉尼亚大学、北京师范大学、华南师范大学和美国密歇根大学的
研究者提出了新的理论——“大米理论”（the rice theory），从农耕作物角度解释
个人和集体的文化差异。研究结果今天发表在《科学》上。
水稻种植与小麦种植对应着迥然不同的耕作体系，其中以灌溉方式和劳动力投入最为突
出：稻田需要持续的供水，农民需要相互合作建设灌溉系统，并协调各人的用水与耕作
日程，因此稻农倾向于建立基于互惠的紧密联系并避免冲突。相比之下，小麦的种植更
简单：小麦基本不需精细灌溉，更轻的劳动任务也让麦农不需依靠他人就能自给自足。
有鉴于此，弗吉尼亚大学心理学系的托马斯·托尔汉姆（Thomas Talhelm）与同事提出
“大米理论”，指出水稻种植的历史可能使文化更倾向于相互依赖，而小麦种植的则使

科學家已經找到了約4000年前黃河上游地區被一場特大洪水淹沒的證據，他們說這一事
件或許為半傳奇色彩的首個中國王朝提供了歷史依據。
洪水之所以發生，是因為地震引起山體滑坡，形成了一道橫跨黃河的巨型天然堤壩，從
青藏高原流過來的黃河水，本應在那裡穿過積石峽。研究人員在週五發表於《科學》(
Science)雜誌的文章中稱，從現存的側壁判斷，那道堤壩比黃河當前的水位高出約800
英尺（約合240米）。
據吳慶龍的團隊推測，在6至9個月裡，黃河完全被堵塞，河水都匯聚在壩體後邊新形成
的堰塞湖裡。接著，壩體在湖水漫過壩頂之際迅速潰決，釋放了最多可達3.8立方英里
（約合15.8立方公里）的湖水，這是過去一萬年以來已知的規模最大的洪水之一。潰壩
洪水可能向下游奔涌了1250英里（約合2000公里）之遠，沖毀了黃河的天然河岸，令許
