发帖数: 6973 | 1 Yesterday I learned from wire reports that Weighted Index of TSE tumbled (
from a plateau of 7,000 points for weeks) to 6,400. I did not know why. (
Overnight--while daytime in Taiwan and TSE was open--the Index dropped
further to 6,300.)
In early November, 2007 (when Chen Shui-bian was the president, the Index
obtained a new high, about 9,700 points. A few days before Pres. Ma was
inaugurated on May 20, 2008 the Index reached 9,300 points. See

(a) It should be Taiwan Stock Exchange, not Taipei.
(b) The Exchange recently changed its acronym from TSEC to TWSE, to avoid confusion with Tokyo Stock Exchnage.

thinks he is the smartest person in the world, so much so that when he lies
, he is convinced that nobody can catch him in the act.
It is reported today that Pres. Ma defended himself, ascribing
misundertanding of Taiwanese to the fact that he "misspoke." See
